MSI Raider 16 Max HX squeezes desktop-replacement heat into a 16-inch chassis, unveiled at CES 2026 as the first 16-inch Raider Max HX.
Notebookcheck's lab unit paired Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus with GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop at 175W TGP. The panel is a 16-inch 2560×1600 240Hz QHD+ OLED with DisplayHDR 1000, and it's glossy. Weight sits near 2.655 kg plus about 1.335 kg for the PSU, with chassis height around 28.9 mm. A SODIMM and dual M.2 subpanel keep upgrades reachable.
High-end configs land near the $4,200 US range for the tested SKU. Micro Center listings for RTX 5080 configs have been noted from about $2,500. The reviewed unit skips G-Sync, Advanced Optimus, and a touchscreen. Tom's Hardware and PCWorld echo the desktop-replacement framing with the same honest bulk caveats.
Who needs this story?
Esports and creator agencies that want 18-inch class pace without the full 18-inch footprint. Teams that upgrade RAM and storage in-house will like the subpanel. Teams that hate glossy glare or heavy PSUs need the cons up front.
What must UAE briefs avoid?
Invented AED. Research didn't confirm a local price, so stick to US ranges and say verify before publish. Don't promise G-Sync on the reviewed config. Do promise serious heat and fans when Cooler Boost unlocks full TGP.
Your move: Put weight, PSU mass, and 175W TGP on the first spec card so influencers don't discover the brick on camera.
